3.1 Identify gaps in risk management structure to prevent delays in disaster relief

3.2 Mitigate disasters by educating population on a local level on what to do

4 Key Project Components

4.1

4.1.1 Rapid Emergency, Assessment and Coordination Team (REACT)

4.1.2 REACT establishes partnerships with national leadership, UN, and local communities.

4.1.3 Regional REACTs that function in high risk areas.

4.1.4 Local REACTs have gained experience working with central level groups in REACT.

4.1.5 REACTs have successfully trained population and setup local disaster preparedness plans

4.2

4.2.1 Strengthen ties between new disaster risk system on national, regional, and district levels.

4.2.2 Reports will be prepared by each group and disseminated as information packages

4.2.3 Full training to staff at each level

4.2.4 Efficient communication from district to regional to central command will prevent or mitigate disasters via better monitoring of communities

4.2.5 Compile and share data on priority areas giving local governments a clear idea on where risks lie

4.3

4.3.1 Support training and re-training of officials responsible for disaster risk management in all districts of the country

4.3.2 Change the present focus of many community leaders on disaster response, to disaster risk mitigation

4.3.3 Upgrading of training facilities, updating the skills of trainers, and review of the current training curriculum

4.4

4.4.1 UN Disaster Risk Management Project has assessed high vulnerable to floods, mudslides, earthquakes, and other hazards, communities in North and South

4.4.1.1 The fourth component of this project is the most important aspect in terms of risk affecting a disaster.

4.4.1.2 This is public dissemination of the plan to mitigate the disaster in those areas most vulnerable to existing risks and hazards.
